Hi Maarten, I really like this article. I think you've nailed the problem of stakeholders with power and influence thinking that every feature will magically deliver value very well.
However I would have liked to see you go deeper into the conversations that we need to have with such stakeholders in order to change their beliefs. I understand the point that you make about presenting numbers that they understand tied to each feature, but I also think this feature factory mindset stems from a deep-seated belief that (a) it's all that they know how to do, (b) they don't have the time to study a new approach, and (c) their neck is on the line if they follow your hair-brained idea and it does not work! Fixed prior beliefs, lack of time/attention, and fear for one's own career are a powerful combination to stifle any new intiative dead in its tracks. If you have any deeper insights on this political persuasion problem I would love to hear about them!
